During the American International Wind Energy Exhibition (AWEA) in New Orleans, Louisiana, the world's leading bearing manufacturer Timken demonstrated a newer technological achievement-Timken® Double Inner Ring (TDI) Tapered Roller Bearings . This product is specially designed to solve the main shaft application problems of large megawatt wind turbines. It is an efficient substitute for OE main shaft spherical roller bearings. It can bring longer bearing life to wind turbine operators, while reducing component wear, improving overall transmission performance and avoiding costly repairs.

The emergence of market demand for large megawatt wind turbines drives the size and design of spindle bearings to continuously improve accordingly. Timken foresaw the limitations of traditional spherical roller bearing solutions and developed more advanced solutions for the industry. Timken bearings can reduce bearing slippage and fretting wear, and improve the stiffness of the system, so that the torque can be transmitted to the gearbox without additional load on the torsion arm, and the overall performance of the system has been improved.
